The Begining
I will be serving as a Municipal and Community Development Volunteer for 27 months. My service will begin with 3 months of intensive language and culutral integration during which I will have limited connectivity to the outside world. I will definitly journal during these three months and try to write a concise synopsis of my experience as I am given access to the interweb.

Will you have a fedex station near your Niger deployment? I only ask because I'm serious about fedexing you a cheesesteak.

I think DHL is the best and maybe less expesive than Fed EX. I'll check into it!

ReplyDeleteTalked to Will last Sunday! Seems well and really into the native language Hausa because the family he is living with only speaks Hausa. He is to get a phone Sunday week. He was visiting a Agricultural PCV in her village last weekend and she contacted her parents and gave them our phone number so they could call us and give us her phone number so we could call and talk to Will. Erin's family even told us the phone card they use to call her, so we bought one and call her and talked to Will for about 30 minutes. He takes a tour of Niamey next week and will get his phone then.

Talked to Will on Sunday and he has his own phone number. If you need his number (assuming he has not alredy called all of his friends). Send me an email to jwsmith6018@tx.rr.com and we will send it too you. He was diappointed in he language competency test. We think he was a little neverous and sick at the time. He will know his assigment this Friday, but we are not supposed to post in on the web or blogs. He asked that we call him on Sundays. In Dallas, Niger is 6 hours ahead of us. So if it is 9am here it is 3pm in Niger. He also said he would be able to have internet access bi-weekly on his new post. He is supposed to send his final week of training at his new post. Because of the vote to give the present president unlimited time in office, his new assignmet will be in community service and he is not to discuss politics at all.
ReplyDeletehey will!! this is evin. you need to update your blog!!!!!!!! :)
